In this paper, thickener development and its research status in mineral technology was described. The structural characteristics, development and application of both traditional thickeners and efficient thickener were summarized respectively. The factors that impact thickener concentra-ting efficienc were highlighted. A suggestion given in the paper was that rational use of flocculent and application of automation control technology for efficient use of thickener.
