按照北美原住民的平等观思想，整个生物圈乃至宇宙是一个生态系统，其中的一切事物都是相互联系、相互作用的，人类应该平等地对待他们的“兄弟姐妹”，如植物、动物、矿物质等，应该对“大地母亲”富有责任，对她充满敬畏和爱戴之情。北美原住民的平等观，体现在他们的宗教信仰、民族特征、尊老爱幼等方面，集中反映了原住民社会的指导原则和传统价值观，揭示了他们对待世界的方式，带给现代社会以启迪和警示。
