In the Wei-Jin period,scholars began to pursue the“simpleness and naturalness”of the aesthetic ideal. which brought a profound impact on the prevailing calligraphy. This article takes Clive Bell“Significant Form”theory as a theoretical basis,discusses the aesthetic implication of the“simpleness and naturalness”and its influence on later calligraphy.
