经清末新政之教育改革后，民国前期山西小学教育步入了快速发展时期，呈现出了一定的阶段性与连续性，发展过程中亦具有鲜明的地域特点。临汾地区地处晋南，其发展过程和特点具有一定的代表性，经历了清末教育改革、步入正轨、快速发展和艰难中缓慢发展几个阶段，呈现出区域内发展不平衡、教育经费不足、教会学校和女学扮演重要角色等诸多特点。

After the education reform in Late Qing Dynasty , the early Republican primary school education of Shanxi entered a period of rapid development , showing a certain stage and continuity .Its development has distinct regional characteristics .Located in the South of Shanxi , Linfen's development process and characteristics have some representation .Linfen has gone through several stages , namely the late Qing education reform , stepping on track , rapid development and slow development .unbalanced development in the region , lack of education funding , mission schools and women's education are all the features in its development .
