“吴中七子”在思想上对清王朝有着很强的认同感，又深受格调派诗歌理论的影响，他们的创作与厉鹗等老一辈词人表现出很多不同。在情感内容上，他们的词作缺少樊榭词的悲感情绪和对抗世俗的勇气；艺术风格上，他们的词作多了一些开阔苍凉和浑雄壮阔之风。这种以“格调”入词的作法，一方面淡化了“浙派”的骚雅精神，一方面丰富了“浙派”词的艺术门径。所有这些，既开启了“浙派”词的嬗变之风，又将“浙派”词带向了衰落之途。
“오중칠자”재사상상대청왕조유착흔강적인동감，우심수격조파시가이론적영향，타문적창작여려악등로일배사인표현출흔다불동。재정감내용상，타문적사작결소번사사적비감정서화대항세속적용기；예술풍격상，타문적사작다료일사개활창량화혼웅장활지풍。저충이“격조”입사적작법，일방면담화료“절파”적소아정신，일방면봉부료“절파”사적예술문경。소유저사，기개계료“절파”사적선변지풍，우장“절파”사대향료쇠락지도。
Because the “Wuzhong Seven Sons” had a strong sense of identity to Qing Dynasty , and had been deeply influenced by the poetic theories of the Style School ,w hose creations shew many differences from those of Li E and the older generation of poets .As for the emotional contents ,their words lacked in sad mood and courage against the secular ,while as for the artistic style ,their words had more wide desolation and magnificent style ,which removed Sao Ya spirit in Zhexi School ,but enriched its art ways as well .All of these ,not only opened the“evolution of Zhe School” ,but aslo led it to the way of declining .
