Chinese-foreign Cooperation in Running Schools%Student Choice%Information Channel%School Character
本研究旨在通过问卷调查了解大陆学生在选择中外合作办学过程中所采用的信息策略,包括信息来源(学生从哪里获得有关学校特质的信息)与信息内涵(学生在选校过程中注重哪些学校特质)两个方面。研究结果显示:首先,学生选校信息来源主要包括亲友、学校与社会三个维度,在选校信息来源的重要性上中外合作办学学生与普通公办高校学生之间不存在显著差异,但中外合作办学学生比普通公办高校学生更多采用“海外同学朋友”与“网络社群”两种信息渠道,存在显著差异;其次,选校信息内涵包括“教学理念与资源”、“资助与发展机会”及“设施与生活体验”三个维度,选择中外合作办学的学生更看重“教学理念与资源”,普通公办高校的学生更看重“资助与发展机会”及“设施与生活体验”,均存在显著差异;最后,中外合作办学学生对“教学理念与资源”信息的重要性感知与实践程度感知之间存在显著差异,这是中外合作办学未来发展最应重视与亟待改进的方向。

The study aims to examine mainland students' choice of Chinese-foreign cooperative universities through an empirical survey of the information strategies they used, which is composed of information channel (where the student gets the information on school characters) and information content (what school characters are highly valued when they make choice). First, results from principle components analysis indicated three dimensions of the information channel, namely relatives and friends, school, and society. Although there was no significant difference in students' perception of the "importance" in the three aspects of information channel between Chinese-foreign cooperative university and general public university, further analysis suggested that students who chose cooperative university were more likely to get information from their overseas peers and cyber networks, and the differences were statistically significant. Second, results from principle components analysis also identified three dimensions of information content, namely "teaching philosophy and resources", "financial support and prospect" and "facilities and life experience". Among these three aspects of information content, "teaching philosophy and resources"was much more valued by cooperative university students while "financial support and prospect" and "facilities and life experience" were more highly valued by public university students. Finally, further analysis for students in the cooperative university suggested that "teaching philosophy and resources" was the major aspect they perceived significant discrepancy in what they valued and they were provided, which provides insights for Chinese-foreign cooperative university to improve in the future.
