身背黑精灵美誉的英国现代派诗人劳伦斯一生创作诗歌近千首，不同阶段的诗歌传达出的诗意各有千秋。基于作家城市生活体验书写的诗歌更是别具特色。它不仅展示了城市文明的双重特征和诗人独特的审美情趣，也体现了劳伦斯诗歌与绘画艺术的互为和互利。由此可见，劳伦斯借助文学艺术的力量，通过黑精灵的审美视角，运用跨艺术手法描绘出城市中平凡的，甚至是丑恶的日常生活画卷，实现城市书写的审美化和艺术化，在城市文明的“恶”中找寻“美”，从而在城市的“地狱”和“天堂”之间自由转化。

Hailed as the dark elf of British modernist poetry, Lawrence wrote nearly one thousand poems at different times in his life that convey different meanings.However, the poems which are based on his life in the city are more noteworthy. They not only show the duality of urban civilization and the poet's unique aesthetic temperament but also reflect the interpene-tration between his poetry and his paintings.Therefore with literary and artistic power and through the aesthetic perspective of the dark elf, Lawrence sees and depicts something ordinary or even ugly in daily urban life .At the same time he looks for beauty in the evil urban civilization and attains a free shift between hell and heaven in the city.
