2014年，我国五大合成树脂产能大幅增加至7780万吨/年，产量较2013年增加9.2%；受包装行业和电子商务快速发展的拉动及塑料在包装和减震领域对其他材料的替代，需求保持6.2%的增速增长。预计2015年仍将是合成树脂扩能高峰年，新增产能主要来自煤制烯烃和丙烷脱氢等低成本项目，同时受经济放缓和产业结构调整影响，合成树脂需求增速回落，因此合成树脂行业仍将处于微利时期，寻求原料多元化和产品高端化是合成树脂行业的发展趋势。

In 2014, China’s capacity of the five major synthetic resin rose by a large margin to 77.80 million t/a. The output increased by 9.2 percent than that of 2013. Resulting from the drive of the packaging industry and the electronic commerce as well as the plastics’ replacement of other materials in packaging and shock absorption fields, demand kept the growth rate of 6.2 percent. It is expected that the year 2015 will still be at the peak of synthetic resin capacity expansion. The main capacity expansion will be from the projects of coal to olefin and propane dehydrogenation with low cost in the industry. At the same time, due to the slowdown of the economy and the adjustment of the industry, the growth rate of the demand for the synthetic resin will fall. Therefore, the synthetic resin industry will be still in a low-profit period. The seeking of the raw materials diversification and the high-end products will be the development trend of the industry.
