Dharma knowledge has been deeply in the romances of Tang Dynasty. The Motifs like impermanence and dreams in The Gov-ernor of Nanke reflect the Buddhist thoughts such as the changes and bitterness of life, life being a dream, all empties etc. Under such circumstances, Buddhism supply human beings with the method to refuge, that is, the refuge of soul. Therefore the quest for the refuge has become the ideal condition to affirm the life value. It becomes an everlasting existence.
