《所罗门之歌》中的空间战争、规训话语、他者属性等权力具体表征揭示了意识形态无孔不入的社会现实：“林肯天堂”作为物质空间，成为权力之争的焦点，黑人杰克等人获取主体身份的潜在性，让当权者产生空间焦虑从而杀心顿起；麦肯的规训话语无法得到社会认同，于是他只能对家中女性和生态环境施以暴力，令文本呈现出生态女权主义的革命性；派拉特以他者性成为光彩形象，却又在权力结构中遭遇归顺和同化。小说秉承莫里森一以贯之的后现代风格，将权力机制中的身份主题演绎得入木三分。
