大历诗人创作送别诗数量较多，在五百首以上，杜甫大历时期的送别诗有130首左右，送别诗中都有四种不同的意象，即描述性意象、比喻性意象、象征性意象、暗示性意象，因诗人心境、情感、艺术造诣的不同，而呈现出不同的面貌、特征。大历诗人送别诗中的意象以描述性意象、象征性意象为主，杜甫大历时期的送别诗中则兼有比喻性意象、象征性意象、暗示性意象，比较它们的不同，有助于我们走进诗人的内心世界，感受他们送别诗中各种意象的独特魅力。
