精索静脉曲张是导致男性不育的常见原因，张耀圣教授在长期的临床实践中总结出辨证治疗精索静脉曲张不育症的临床经验和用药特点，张教授发现精索静脉曲张不育症患者皆有脾虚气陷的临床表现，认为精索静脉曲张不育症的病机是“清阳不升、浊阴不降为因，肾虚血瘀为果”。他强调以健脾益气、升清降浊，兼以补肾活血、理气化湿，用药轻灵、整体调治，科学饮食、重视调养、适度适量运动四个方面为主要治疗原则，详审病机及病症特点，整体调理，标本兼治。

Varicocele is the main reason of male infertility. Prof. Zhang discovered that this disease was of the symp-tom as qi sinKing of spleen and stomach and the pathogenesis was the failure of clear yang in ascending and the turbid yin in descending resulting in Kidney deficiency and blood stagnation. He stressed on strengthening spleen and benefiting qi,ascending the clear and descending the turbid,combined with tonifying the Kidney, activating blood,regulating qi and resolving dampness. The main principles of treatment included the holistic regulation with flexible medication,dietary regulation and proper physical exercise. The pathogenesis and symptoms of disease were examined carefully. The symptoms and the root causes were treated coordinately and holistically.
