作为通识教育的重要成分，《西方文化概论》近年来逐渐受到重视。该课程旨在普及西方文化常识、梳理西方历史脉络，为专门学科的学习提供较广阔的知识背景。然而在该课程的教学中，我们面对着三种矛盾：一是宗旨上知识体系和意识形态的矛盾，二是体例上经和权的矛盾，三是内容上专和博的矛盾。能否正确处理这三组矛盾，是完善教学内容、提升课程质量、构建全面和批判的西学知识体系的关键。

as a key component of general education, the introduction of western culture is given more and more prominence. This course aims to popularize general knowledge of western culture and history which help to provide background for professional learning. In this course we are to face kinds of contradiction such as the struggle between knowledge and ideology, regularity and adaptation, profession and erudition. The right solution of these kinds of contradiction is key to the quality of curriculum which is the basis of Objective criticism pf the western knowledge system.
