Shakespeare’s plays%synaesthesia%translation
莎士比亚四大悲剧是世界文坛上的一颗明珠，而通感修辞便是其中灵动的一笔。然而，国内对莎翁四大悲剧的通感修辞研究尚少。以《哈姆雷特》和《李尔王》中的通感修辞为语料，发现莎剧中的通感修辞有三个作用：一是使语言更具魅力；二是更有助于人物塑造；三是深化戏剧的主题。而从朱生豪、梁实秋、孙大雨和卞之琳的莎剧译本出发，发现朱生豪主要采用直译法，忽略了通感修辞的形式；梁实秋主要采用意译法，也并未关注通感修辞的特点；孙大雨和卞之琳采用直译为主、意译为辅的方法，忠实原文，也保留了通感修辞的特点。因此，翻译莎剧通感这一修辞的时候，既要忠实原文，又要保留其修辞特点，在此基础上还应保证译文的流畅。

Shakespearean tragedies compose a shining star in the literary world,with synaesthesia being aflexible stroke in them.However,this important rhetorical device doesn’t attract much attention of the scholarsin China.This paper,by selecting some typical examples of synaesthesia from “Hamlet”and “King Lear”,finds three main functions of synaesthesia:it contributes to constructing vivid language,modeling the characterswell and deepening the theme.In addition,by analyzing corresponding Chinese translation versions ofsynaesthesia of Zhu Shenghao,Liang Shiqiu,Sun Dayu and Bian Zhilin,the author finds that Zhu tended toemploy literal translation but neglected the form of syaesthesia.Liang was inclined to employ free translationand overlooked the form as well.Sun and Bian combined literal translation with free translation and paid equalattention to both the meaning of the original text and the feature of synaesthesia.In a word,while dealing withsynaesthesia,we should be faithful to the original text,keep the feature of synaesthesia and make sure thetranslation is fluent.
