文化财产返还国际争议起因不同、种类多样，且往往涉及国家利益、公共利益甚至人类共同利益，因此呈现出相当的复杂性和特殊性。文化财产返还国际争议焦点是文化财产原始所有人与善意购买人之间的利益平衡问题，应根据争议的起因及具体类型选择恰当的纠纷解决机制。只有诉诸多元化纠纷解决机制，才能有效化解文化财产返还国际争议。

The causes and kinds of international disputes for return of cultural property are diverse while these disputes often involve national interests, public interest, even the common interests of mankind. Therefore the particularity and complexity is shown. The focus of international dispute resolution of cultural property return is the balance of interests between original owners and bona fide purchasers of cultural property. Appropriate dispute settlement mechanism should be chosen based on the causes and specific types of disputes. Only by resorting to diverse dispute resolution mechanism can the international disputes of cultural property return be effectively resolved.
