黄铁矿是金厂峪金矿主要的载金矿物,通过“外调查取样、显微镜观察和电子探针分析对其进行研究。根据金厂峪矿床“外产出的地质特征、矿脉间的穿插关系以及矿物共生组合特征,将矿床的成矿阶段划分为钠长石要石英阶段、石英要硫化物阶段、石英大脉和石英要碳酸盐四个阶段,并逐步分析各个阶段黄铁矿的特征。自然金产出于钠长石要石英阶段、石英要硫化物阶段的它形晶黄铁矿颗粒中。通过黄铁矿的化学成分分析,其矿床成因为岩浆热液型金矿床,成矿深度为中深部。
