Optics is the science of understanding and controlling light, in which phase ma-nipulation plays an important role. Recently, electromagnetic metasurfaces consisting of carefully designed inhomogeneous microstructures have been developed, in which any phase distribution can be realized and controlled on a subwavelength scale. By this means we may achieve arbitrary wavefront manipulation based on the Huygens principle.
