The reasons for oxidation of silver coating on copper-based products were discussed from the two aspects of silver-plating process and environment. The electrical properties of oxidized silver-plated copper products were tested. Some anti-tarnish measures for silver coating, treatment methods after oxidation, and an alternative to silver coating were proposed.
