Biolinguistics is one of hot topics, which has aroused scholar’s interest from different angles. But little attention is paid to the study of abstract phonology within the framework of biolinguistics, not to say any empirical study or any theoretical model. As Ph D of Harvard University, Bridget D. Samuels conducted the pioneer study on the topic of animal cognition and animal phonology. The review will introduce the latest development of this direction and make comments on the merits and weak points of current study. It is hoped that the review will shed light on the future of domestic study.
