With the development of power electronic device, the medium-high voltage frequency converter with excellent performance is widely applied in many kinds of industries. To deal with the heat dissipation problems well or not is the key to its long-term stable operation. The sources of heat generated in the medium-high voltage frequency converter are analyzed, and the characteristics of different cooling schemes are compared from the aspects of technical feasibility, reliability and economy etc. Combined with the actual projects, the reasonable suggestions of medium-high voltage frequency converter cooling scheme selection is put forward. It can be used in the electrical engineering design when choosing from different cooling schemes of medium-high voltage frequency converter.
