Both function and structure of Modbus-based substation monitoring system for the mining area was introduced,which has PIC24FJ32GA104 SCM cored and MAX485 employed to implement the communication between the monitoring platform and the comprehensive protection switch;and it has EDG-4504 serial server used to switch the monitoring platform in the underground industrial Ethernet.Basing on Modbus communica-tion protocol,the communication program,including partial program was developed.Application results prove its reliability in operation.
