安吉拉?卡特的《染血之室》将矛头指向经典童话的教化思想,质疑经典童话的固定情节以及只具功能性而无个性的人物形象,有意识地塑造了一群有血有肉的年轻女性人物,她们不再成为故事的铺垫,而是有力推动故事的发展,这契合了童话研究专家齐普斯的观点,即童话具有颠覆性。本文聚焦情节,分别从情节某一部分的前景化、情节的有意相左、故事背景的肆意渲染等三方面分析故事集里的六个改写,旨在指出卡特的故事颠覆了经典童话的父权意识形态,继承并发展了早期童话,体现了童话的生命力和蕴含的积极力量。说明童话可以塑造出立足现实、机智勇敢、力争独立自主的女性。

Angela Carter’s Bloody Chamber takes issue with classical fairy tales’ socializing nature and their function-al characters who possess no personality of their own. Her stories, on the contrary, create a group of young females with unique personalities, who are no longer functional but forcefully propel the development of stories. This corresponds with Jack Zipes’ view on the subversiveness of fairy tales. As Carter consistently reconstructs the plot of classical fairy tales in her rewrites, this paper attempts to analyze her six rewrites by focusing on the effects of her three ways of reconstructing the plot, that is, either accentuating a certain aspect of the plot, changing the conventional narrative order of the plot, or foregrounding the specific set-tings of the tale. In doing so Carter successfully subverts the patriarchal ideology inscribed on classical fairy tales and inherits and develops early fairy tales. Her rewriting also shows the vigour and strength of fairy tale and demonstrates that fairy tale as a genre can create mature, witty and independent females.
