The nitrogen removal modes of horizontal subsurface flow constructed wetlands mainly include plant up-take,medium adsorption,nitrification-denitrification,etc. Among these modes,nitrification-denitrification is the most important mechanism of nitrogen removal. The structure of horizontal subsurface flow constructed wetland determines the entire inner anaerobic environment of it,so as to obtain better denitrification results. The main influencing factors of nitrogen removal in horizontal subsurface flow constructed wetlands include dissolved oxygen,substrate,plant,car-bon source,operational conditions,etc. The main factors that affect the nitrogen removal in constructed wetland are discussed,the measures of improving the wetland nitrogen removal efficiency are expounded,and the related research direction in future are pointed out.
