The article emphasizes the importance of making Yongzhou into a National Forest City as well as its main measures and successful experiences. Creating a National Forest City is the urgent need for the construction of ecological civilization and building a harmonious society. It’s the first choice to stimulate the city vitality and promoting economic development. It’s also an effective way to build a livable city and to raise happiness index. Its ideas are“green, ecology, modern, humanity, beauty, livability and happiness.”By means of afforestation, ecology and beautiful countryside construction, the image of National Forest City with“Polychrome Xiao Xiang (Rivers of Xiao and Xiang)”can be established. We will ensure the measures of“propoganda, financing, organization and management”are fully implemented, and“plan and design, construction and implementation, preservation”are all under unified management. The social, economic and ecological benefits can be raised synchronously by the combination of high-quality projects, passage greening and afforestation. Then the green beautiful Yongzhou with three ultimate goals of“harmonous green urban area, forest-surrounded suburban, pastoral countryside can be realized.
