One special power fluctuation event in practical operation of Nan’ao multi-terminal flexible high voltage direct current(HVDC)transmission system was introduced. Starting from phenomena of the event and on the basis of fault recor-ded waveform and specification of control protection system,internal reasons for power fluctuation were analyzed which might provide references for analyzing similar exceptional events in future. Suitable improvement measures were proposed to improve operational reliability of the flexible HVDC transmission system.
