“母亲”意象是谢默斯?希尼诗文中的重要元素和有机组成部分，然而在学界却鲜有评述。事实上，希尼对“母亲”以及“母亲”这一原型意象所代表的女性因素怀有深厚的情感。有鉴于此，论文试图结合希尼的诗文，从母亲的“遗产”、“儿子与情人”式的母子情结以及“生母”与“养母”之间的张力三个角度切入，从中解读出希尼诗文中“母亲”意象的深层意蕴：“母亲”不仅是给予希尼丰厚教养遗产的启蒙之师，亦是他眷恋仰慕的心理依靠，更象征着维系家国情怀的精神纽带。

The "mother"imagery is an essential and integral element in Seamus Heaney 's oeuvre, yet it receives scant attention among Heaney scholars .In point of fact , Heaney grows deep attachment to "mother"as an archetype and its relevant female elements .By dint of textual analysis , this paper aims to figure out the connotations of the "mother"imagery in Heaney 's cannon .From the perspective of Mother ’ s"heritage", the bond between "Son and Lover"and the tension between "birth mother"and "foster mother", this paper comes to a conclusion that the "mother"imagery not only serves as a mentor who bequeaths rich literary and moral heritage to Heaney , but also an admiring sentimental magnet , and an e-motional bond which connects his family and motherland .
