The paper analyzes the meaning of independent per-sonality and current status of its cultivation, pointing out the problems during the training process. Then it elaborates the basic meaning of tutorial system from three aspects: the advantages, implementingt ideas, and the principles of implementation. At the end, it puts forward specific strategies to cultivate talents with in-dependent personality and innovation capacity through bringing up undergraduates' spirit of self-building, skepticism and inno-vation based on the tutorial system.
