A simplified strategy to identify the inertia of the permanent magnet synchronous motor based upon the estimation of load torque distribution. It changed the original control condition of constringency, thus, not only to simplify the identification procedure and decrease the computation load but also ensure the accuracy of identifi-cation results. The effectiveness of this method was proved by establishment of the PMSM vector control system on the simulation platform of Matlab/Simulink.
