CBI(content‐based instruction) is a teaching idea in which the language skill teach‐ing and the information interested by the learners are combined .The teaching mode bases on the theme‐based activities both inside and outside class .It is effective in improving the learn‐ers’ interests in language learning and can enhance their English language competence .T his paper focuses on the application of the CBI teaching mode in the English listening class for the students of the higher vocational colleges.
