Duo La, a Malaysian writer, writes essays and also fictions, micro-fictions being her forte, not only because of the circumstances, in which South-east Asia provides rich soil for the growth of micro-fiction in a region rich in commerce but that is thin in the consciousness of grand narrative, but also because of her own artistic preferences. As she enjoys writing in this genre, developing it into a great spectacle over the years, Duo La has published a dozen collections of micro stories, such as A Mirror on the Pavement, The Flower Garden with Wild Grass, Peach Flowers, A Free Pair of Red Shoes, Moring in a Paris Spring, and Morning Flowers. Of these hundreds of micro stories, Duo La has, consciously or unconsciously, cultivated her own distinct artistic style.
