中国留学生之父容闳1909年发表自传《我在中国和美国的生活》,记录了他为祖国的富强而殚精竭虑的追求历程以及因此所从事的外交、政治、教育等活动。在自传中,他开启了独特的记忆机制,既表现了时空交织的个体记忆,也表现了渴望身份认同的集体记忆。从他在自传中试图搭建东西方沟通桥梁的努力中可见,他的个人记忆与集体记忆的交织表现出杂糅身份的特点,隐藏着作者的归化意识。

Yung Wing (or Rong Hong), Father of Overseas Chinese Students, published his autobiography, My Life in China and America, in 1909, a record of what he did tirelessly for the prosperity of China and his diplomatic, political and educational activities therein. In this autobiography, he initiated a unique memonic mechanism via representing his personal memory interweaving time and space as well as his desire for a collective memory of identity. It can be seen from the efforts he makes in building a bridge between the East and the West in his autobiography that his personal memory, interwoven collective memory, is characterized by a hybrid identity, concealing the author’s consciousness of naturalization.
