左手材料的精确数值模拟是其研究的关键问题。但随着左手材料的研究深入，研究模型的电尺寸和复杂度都相应增加，应选择合适的计算方法进行数值模拟。通过计算单一结构单元及电小尺寸样件的吸收特性和散射特性，并结合实验数据，比较两种常用计算方法———有限元法和时域有限积分法在计算左手材料中的计算特性。结果表明：时域有限积分法在计算左手材料模型时更具有优势，特别是当电尺寸增加时优势更明显。最后利用时域有限积分法计算电大尺寸左手吸波材料样件RCS对其散射特性进行分析。

The accurate numerical simulation is a key issue in the study of Left -handed materials ( LHM) .With the further research ,the electric size and complexity of LHM model have increased accord-ingly,the appropriate calculation methods should be selected for numerical simulation .Two widely used methods,the finite element method(FEM) and the finite integral time domain (FITD),have compared by calculating absorption characteristics and scattering property of a single structural unit and small electric size model ,which combined with experiment data .Results show the FITD is more appropriate than FEM in calculating of the LHM model ,and with the electric size increasing ,the FITD has more advantages es-pecially.At the last,the RCS of large electric size LHM model has been calculated by FITD for analyzing its scattering property .
