黄陵背斜石墨矿产于水月寺（岩）群第二、四岩组中，是由早元古代海陆交互相环境或浅海泻湖（尤其是还原性的）环境沉积的一套富含有机质（或薄煤层）的泥（页）岩、粉砂质泥岩以及碳酸盐岩，经中—高级区域变质作用而形成。后期褶皱变形对石墨矿体的厚度具有改造作用，常使矿体在褶皱的转折端加厚，而在翼部发生不同程度的拉薄或构造透镜化。下一步找矿工作要关注复背形、复向形、花边状褶皱轴部和转折端等含矿岩系加厚的部位，尤其是与自电异常套合性好的地段。

Graphite ore of Huangling anticline in the Shuiyuesi ( rock) stage’s second and four group,is from the early Proterozoic sea-land interaction environment or shallow lagoonal ( especially the reductive sedimentary environment) ’s a rich in organic matter ( or thin coal seam) mud ( shale) rock,silty mudstone and carbonaterock,formed by senior region-al metamorphism.The later fold deformation has transformed on the graphite orebody’s thickness,often makes the orebod-ies in the turn end of fold thickened,and in the wings pulled thin or tectonic lens in different degree.The next prospecting work should pay attention to the mineral-bearing system thickened parts incuding synclinorium, anticlinorium, lacy fold axes and the turning end etc,especially with the SP abnormities sheathed good location.
