《内经》养生强调“法于阴阳，和于术数”的中和养生之道，提出了“天人合一”“形神合一”“动静结合”的中和养生原则，是儒家“中和”思想在中医养生理论及临床实践中的完美体现。中和养生学说的基本内涵体现在顺应四时至中和以养形；调摄精气神及情志至中和以养神；调节饮食至中和以养性。后世医家对中和养生学说的理论进行了一系列的阐述与发挥，并强调了中和养生学说在中医养生实践中的重要意义。
《내경》양생강조“법우음양，화우술수”적중화양생지도，제출료“천인합일”“형신합일”“동정결합”적중화양생원칙，시유가“중화”사상재중의양생이론급림상실천중적완미체현。중화양생학설적기본내함체현재순응사시지중화이양형；조섭정기신급정지지중화이양신；조절음식지중화이양성。후세의가대중화양생학설적이론진행료일계렬적천술여발휘，병강조료중화양생학설재중의양생실천중적중요의의。
Internal Classic emphasized on neutralized health preservation by “following rule of yin and yang, adjusting ways to cultivating health”, and put forward the principles of“unity of nature and human”,“unity of body and spirit” and“unity of dynamic and static”, which are the perfect expression of“neutralization” idea of Confucianism in health preservation of TCM and clinical prac-tice. The essence of the theory lies in nourishing body by complying with seasons till neutralization, nourishing spirit by cultivating es-sential qi, spirit and emotions and nourishing nature by adjusting diet till neutralization. Doctors of later generations gave a series of ex-planation and development about the theory of health preservation in TCM, and emphasized its significance in practice.
