古塔纠偏与加固是一个世界性难题。如何使那些保存比较完好，但倾斜比较严重，存在严重安全隐患的古塔建筑尽可能长久的保存下去，是摆在文物保护与土木工程工作者面前的一个极具挑战意义的课题。为了探讨倾斜古塔建筑的有效保护途径，在充分调查研究的基础上，采用“抽土迫降”方法对西安万寿寺塔实施了纠偏扶正及高程恢复，取得了较为理想的效果。对形体较大且倾斜严重的古塔实施纠偏国内尚不多见，西安万寿寺塔的纠偏扶正为我国古塔的保护工作积累了极其宝贵的经验。

The tilt rectification and reinforcement of ancient pagodas is a global difficult problem. How to preserve the ancient pagodas generally intact but severely tilting and having hidden dangers as long as possible is a challenging research topic in front of the workers of the cultural heritage conservation and civil engineering. To explore the effective preservation approaches of the tilting ancient pagodas, the method of “removing earth and forcing the pagoda body down” applied to the tilt rectiifcation and height restoration project of the Wanshou Temple Pagoda in Xi'an based on the thorough investigation and researches got ideal result. The successful rectiifcations of the large-sized and severely tilted ancient pagodas are rare to date in China, and that of the Wanshou Temple Pagoda provided invaluable experiences for the conservation of the ancient pagodas in China.
