模糊限制语是语言模糊性的典型体现,对模糊限制语的研究有助于对语言本质的理解.以"一点"、"颇"为例,从模糊限制语作为范畴化表达的角度探讨文学文本中汉语模糊限制语的英译问题因而有其必要性.分析结果表明,某一模糊限制语的英译表达并非固定不变,而须考虑语境等因素,从而决定采用直译或意译等翻译策略.

Hedges are core of fuzzy language and they enable a speaker to express degree of category membership. And the study of hedges contributes to the understanding the essence of language itself. The paper examines the function of hedges as expressions of categorization from the perspective of cognitive linguistics and the Chinese-English (C-E) translation of some Chinese hedges in literary texts. The results show that the translation of hedges is not fixed between Chinese and English but calls for the consideration of context and implicature.
