Through argumentation and analysis it was pointed out that aging of flange gasket and impact of condensed water in the primary master valve of the steam station at a steel rolling plant had been the main cause of the steam leakage accident. Improvement mea-sures such as optimizing the water drainage capacity of the steam pipe network and adjusting the operation mode of the temperature and pressure reduction line of the steam station were taken, which has ensured the safe operation of the steam system in the area.
