卢作孚是民国时期杰出的乡村建设实验家，他主张并践行通过乡村城镇化和现代化来逐步推进国家现代化的民族救亡和复兴道路，他主持的北碚乡村建设实验取得巨大成就，影响深远。卢作孚的乡村城镇化和现代化思想与实践，对于当代中国国家现代化的推进，特别是新型城镇化和社会主义新农村建设等都具有重要启示作用。

Lu Zuofu is an eminent person on rural construction experiments in the period of the Republic of China. He advocated and practised a national salvation and rejuvenation road through rural urbanization and modernization to gradually promote the modernization of the whole country . He presided over the Beibei rural construction experiments and made great and far-reac-hing achievements. His ideology and practice on rural urbanization and modernization has impor-tant revelation for contemporary China in promoting the modernization of the country,especially in the new urbanization and the construction of new socialist countryside.
