益阳方言 XA式状态形容词比较丰富，能表示视觉、味觉、嗅觉、触觉、听觉等多方面的意义。XA式状态形容词中的前字“X”除小部分表示具体的意义外，大部分意义虚化，不表示具体的词汇意义，只表示加强程度；后字“A”是构成 XA 式状态形容词的主要词根语素。XA 式状态形容词有多种加强程度的形式，在句中常作谓语、定语、补语和状语，有的还可作主语和宾语。益阳方言 XA 式状态形容词有区别于普通话和长沙方言的个性特征。
