桥梁损坏后修复起来也比较困难，严重的可能造成交通中断、甚至出现安全事故等，因此，对桥梁进行有效的养护工作，是延长其使用寿命、满足承载能力及通行能力、保障行车安全的重要保证；保持桥梁的良好状态，对公路运输具有极重要的意义。
