After approved by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships Ballast Water and sediments (called as convention of ballast water ) will become effective immediately. Ship owners are paying more and more attention and consideration into the ballast water management system. This paper analyzes the claim of the Convention and compares all kinds of ship ballast water treatment technologies to provide reference for the selection of ship ballast water management system.
