Wei Yuan was the enlightenment ideologist who was the earliest to understand the world and advocated the idea of learning to make use western advanced technologies to make weapons to kill foreign-ers.His enlightenment ideas include his deep understanding of the then Chinese traditional education and the Chinese modern educational idea.He called for getting rid of the stale and bringing forth the fresh and absorbing the western advanced education methods and contents on the basis of keeping the valuable parts of the Chinese traditional education so that the Chinese education and the talents it raised could meet the social demands of the modern China.
