The technology of acoustic emission as an effective non-destructive testing method for metal structures has at-tracted wide attention and research .Here ,the basic principles of acoustic emission were introduced ,the relationship be-tween acoustic emission parameters and mechanical parameters of fatigue were analyzed .The research results and the ap-plication of acoustic emission in the metal fatigue damage were reviewed .At last ,prospects of acoustic emission technolo-gy in the field of fatigue damage for metal structure were presented .
