The design of building structures emphasis on the economy too much in China over a period of time,and that lead to low degree of structural safety. In this paper,the workshop of a thin webbed girder main reinforcement brittle fracture accident was investigated and analyzed,and the design specification of safety set low is the main cause of the accident. Further draws the conclusion that the security assessment of existing buildings should be carried out according to the current specification. To summarize and draw lessons from the accident has important theoretical significance and practical value for building structure evaluation and reinforcement.
