由苯甲醛在维生素B1作催化剂及碱性条件下进行安息香缩合得到安息香,然后在酸性条件下用三氯化铁氧化安息香制取二苯乙二酮,二苯乙二酮与尿素在碱性条件下反应得到苯妥英,再由苯妥英与氢氧化钠反应成盐得到苯妥英钠。
由苯甲醛在維生素B1作催化劑及堿性條件下進行安息香縮閤得到安息香,然後在痠性條件下用三氯化鐵氧化安息香製取二苯乙二酮,二苯乙二酮與尿素在堿性條件下反應得到苯妥英,再由苯妥英與氫氧化鈉反應成鹽得到苯妥英鈉。

Benzoin was synthesized by benzaldehyde in alkaline condition under the catalysis of VB1. 1, 2-diphenyl ethanedione was prepared through oxidation of benzoin in acid condition using ferric chloride. 1, 2-diphenyl ethanedione reacted with urea via intramolecular cyclization reaction to obtain phenytoin. Sodium phenytoin was synthesized through reaction of phenytoin and sodium hydroxide.
