左心室重塑是一个由神经激素、机械因素及基因等多因素调控的，心室大小、形态及功能不断发生改变的过程。基质金属蛋白酶（ MMPs）是一组重要的蛋白水解酶家族，是降解细胞外基质的王要介质，MMPs的正常表达及MMPs/TIMP（组织金属蛋白酶抑制剂）适当的比例是维持心肌心脏结构正常的重要因素。进一步研究MMPs将为临床实践提供新的理论基础。

Left ventricular remodeling is the process by which ventricular size,shape,and function are regulated by different mechanical,neurohormonal,and genetic factors.Matrixmetalloproteinases,an important proteinase family which is primary mediator to degrade the extracellular matrix.The normal expression of matrix metalloproteinases and a appropriate MMPs/TIMPs(tissue inhibitors of the matrix metalloproteinases)ratio are important factors to maintain natural cardiac structure.Further research of MMPs will provide the new theory basis for clinical practice.
