Mapping has become a very popular topic in the field of design. Long afiliated with the planning and design of cities, landscapes and buildings, mapping is particularly instrumental in the constructing of lived space. In this active sense, I focused on the book of MAPPINGS compiled by Denis Cosgrove. After a translation of the preface, I went forward to read more and tried to explore the concept, characteristic and function of mapping.
