Reading, which is a basic mean and an important way for mankind to acquire knowledge and information, can help to improve the national quality, is also a knowledge inheritance and a culture continuation. From four aspects, this paper analyzes the changes of the public reading, discusses the impact of the“shallow reading”, and probes into how should the library to deal with the negative effects of“shallow reading”and actively promote public reading.
