根据刘醒龙长篇小说?圣天门口?改编的同名电视连续剧遭遇到了“叫好不叫座”的现实尴尬。作为刘醒龙思想精髓集大成者的小说，从“民间”角度，追求“民间的心灵史”，塑造了梅外婆、董重里等具有新的介质的人物形象，凸显出了作者有异于传统意识形态的历史观；而张黎、刘淼淼导演的同名电视剧打造的却是一部关于草莽英雄杭九枫在革命导师傅朗西教导之下不断“成长”的革命历史传奇，以企图获得当代影视艺术激烈竞争态势下的大众传播效果。同名电视剧“思想”的严重萎缩及其诸多“硬伤”，是其失败的重要原因。
