从中西方不同时空观入手，指出中国传统园林艺术的特质在于对动态的时间维度的关注，而西方传统园林偏重于静态的空间维度的考虑，揭示了“步移景异”是时间设计的代名词，提出了实现时间设计的必要条件和必要线形，归纳出中国传统园林实现“时间设计”的5个常见“法式”，即复合形、中心水面、凸角物体、池岛结构、复合路径，并将其图示化。为传承中国园林“时间设计”的精髓，提供了可以操作的、简单易行的整体构图设计初步手法。

Compared the West space and sequence designing with the Chinese, the paper outlines the Chinese traditional gardens more focus on representing the dynamics of the landscapes while the West is always prefer to the stil space design when visitors are moving on. This paper reveals that various scenery with changing view-points is stand for the sequence designing:puts forward the necessary condition and types of lines for time design and the five space composition models of Chinese traditional garden art for sequence design. They are the complex-shape model, the centeral water model, the corner buildings model, three mountains in a pool and the composite path. Final y, the paper provides brief and pratical overal composition principles of the essence of Chinese traditional garden towards the sequence design.
